David joined Leo Burnett as an Account Executive in 2000. He has risen through the ranks to his current position of Chief Operating Officer. He’s a born and bred Burnetter.
During his tenure, David has led major accounts – such as Bell, IKEA, Yellow Pages and Visa – that require clear strategic leadership and significant volume across their business.
David is passionate about creating business-building, award-winning work. That passion also extends to ensuring excellence in not just the work, but how we work as an agency. He’s a natural leader who can both build and lead multi-functional teams.
North American Chief Strategy Officer
Brent Nelsen is, in his own words, powered by “passion, progress, culture and caffeine.” He has been a major force in Leo Burnett’s ability to deliver great planners on their business and the agency’s record in effectiveness competitions.

Prior to joining Leo Burnett Canada as SVP Planning Director, Brent held the position of SVP Planning Director at DDB Chicago and SVP Planning Director at McCann Erickson World Group in New York.
